Customers in Singapore can Open Bank Accounts with Facial Recognition

Singapore residents can now open a bank account with facial recognition, or put more simply, just a selfie.

DBS, an Asian financial services group, and the Government Technology Agency of Singapore (GovTech) partnered to pilot new facial recognition technology. More than one million DBS customers can sign up for digital banking services from their homes with the technology.

DBS is targeting customers who do not use digital banking yet and are SingPass users. GovTech manages SingPass, the online account management system for Singapore government services.
