Technology experienced another win during the Covid pandemic. Private equity firm Thoma Bravo, which focuses on technology and software, announced this week that three of its funds had raised a total of $22.8 billion. According to reports, this is one of the largest technology-focused PE fundraisers to date.
The firm's flagship fund Thoma Bravo Fund XIV raised $17.8 billion. This makes it more than 41% larger than its predecessor, which closed with $12.6 billion in January 2019. Thoma Bravo Fund XIV is also the largest flagship fund in the firm's history. Thoma Bravo Discover Fund III raised $3.9 billion. The last one of the three funds for this round, Thoma Bravo Explore Fund, raised $1.1 billion. These funds bring the firm's assets under management to more than $70 billion.
