SolarWinds released a new software update after suffering cyber breaches from foreign hackers. The Texas-based software provider is cooperating with law enfocement and federal agencies to respond to the breach.
The breach affected several federal agencies like the U.S. Treasury and the Department of Commerce and businesses like Microsoft and FireEye.
The IRS wasn’t affected, but the Treasury breach was significant, according to Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR).
“According to Treasury staff, the agency suffered a serious breach, beginning in July, the full depth of which isn’t known,” Wyden wrote. “Treasury still does not know all of the actions taken by hackers, or precisely what information was stolen.”
