Visa adds Cryptocurrency API to its platform to help banks roll out crypto payments

Visa, the payment giant announced its new cryptocurrency API platform set to launch later in the year. The API platform will integrate with financial institutions and give customers the ability to buy, sell and transact in cryptocurrencies. 

The new API will allow expanding the reach of cryptocurrencies to Visa costumes, the company wrote in its press release. Visa plans to have 35 cryptocurrencies on its payment platforms for its partners this year. 

“We set out to make Visa the bridge between digital currencies and our global network of 70 million merchants and today we are the leading network for crypto wallets with 35 crypto platforms choosing to issue with Visa,” said Jack Forestell, chief product officer, Visa, said in their press release.
