Imperfect Foods Earns $95M in Series D Funding

Imperfect Foods, a grocery delivery start-up aiming to eliminate food waste secured $95 million in series D capital. The company offers repurposed, fresh groceries at affordable prices. Completed last month, this round of funding was led by Insight Ventures.

Founded 2015, and like many before it, Imperfect Foods began with an idea from its co-founder. While studying at the University of Maryland, Ben Simon noticed a troubling of perfectly good food being thrown away in the campus cafeteria. To combat food waste, Simon founded an on-campus non-profit called the Food Recovery Network.
