Danone Eyes Return to Sales Growth

Danone eyes return to sales growth in the second quarter. The French food company sees 2021 as a year of recovery, after the pandemic deceased their 2020 sales. Emmanuel Faber, the CEO and Chairman of Danone, is under pressure from shareholders as they push for leadership changes and criticize him for weak sales. He realizes that the shareholders are unhappy so he is open to having a dialogue with them.

Danone, the world's largest yogurt producer, said its 2021 recurring operating margin was in line with the 14 percent sales it achieved last year. However, the company did mention that the first quarter would also be tough. They made this forecast after it reported that 2020 sales dropped 1.6 percent.
