Amazon Acquires MGM, Potential In-Movie Theaters

Amazon has acquired MGM for over $8 billion dollars. Synonymous with the roaring lion, the studio holds the rights to a number of iconic IPs. These include James Bond, Legally Blonde, and the Rocky franchise. And, while many seem doubtful that the company could compete meaningfully in the streaming circuit, one expert looks to movie theaters as a solution.

Jeff Bock, Senior Media Analyst at Exhibitioner Relations Co., admits that, when compared giants like Disney+ and Netflix, Amazon Prime is notably smaller. While the streaming service offers a few gems - stellar adaptations of The Boys and Invincible come to mind - Bock says that its lacking library makes acquisition a must.
