Investment Banks and the Spanish power Sector

Recently, Banks and investment funds have demanded from the Spanish authorities to establish a stable regulatory framework. This demand aims to go through the fundamental need to reverse the measures of the Royal Decree-Law of the Spanish power sector. These measures have been approved by the Government in September 2021

Spain is the sixth-largest energy consumer in Europe. It does not have any domestic production of liquid fuels or natural gas. based on the 2050 objectives of national climate neutrality, the current Spanish framework for energy is 100% RE in the electricity mix and 97% RE in the total energy mix. Spain’s energy principle is the “efficiency first” and its transition objectives focus on reducing power consumption in all sectors.
