European Union’s Strategy For Diversifying Its Gas Supply From Russia

The European Union (EU) is looking at renewable energy (RE) sources to stop importing Russian oil. coal and gas before 2030. This is because of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which makes the EU mistrust Russia.

The new strategy also tries to avoid energy prices from increasing and to establish gas reserve for the next winter.

Europe has been suffering for months from increasing gas prices. Now, the risk of a possible end of gas supply to Europe, is making the countries plan new sources to produce RE.

The EU's new plan, REPowerEu, was finalized to stop importing Russian gas by about two thirds. It also aims to increase the use of renewable sources and diminish the inefficiencies.
