Netflix buys Roald Dahl’s works in the latest deal. These works include “Matilda” and “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” While Netflix won’t go into the deal’s specifics, the streaming company has full access to the author’s work. Additionally, they also have access to animated and live-action films. They face competition from Disney+ and HBO Max.
Furthermore, the deal expands Netflix’s existing licensing agreement. Along with The Roald Dahl Story Co, they will create animated series based on his works. The agreement is from 2018. It is one of the biggest deals in history for children’s programming. The Hollywood Reporter says it could be worth between $500 million and $1 billion.
