CalPlant I, LLC, based in Willows, California, has filed for a Chapter 11 reorganization plan. The company entered into a Plan Support Agreement (PSA) to sell the company.
The 276-acre manufacturing plant produces 20% of the rice in the United States, using 1.5 million tons of rice straw every year. Additionally, these raw materials come from an average of a 25-mile radius of the plant, securing benefits to the nearest community.
The company's goals seek to utilize resources to build a better future for the community, country, and the planet. The usage of approximately 20% of the community's rice straw waste will minimize water levels transformed into flood rice fields. This also lowers methane emissions.
