Kinder Chocolate Factory Shut Down Over Salmonella Outbreak

Belgium’s food safety authority, AFSCA, ordered the closure of a Kinder chocolate factory owned by Ferrero. The decision comes after its links with suspected salmonella cases in the UK, Germany, France, and Belgium. 

Ferrero issued a statement apologizing for the sudden outbreak of salmonella cases and also acknowledging the suspension of operations of its factory located in the south-eastern town of Arlon. The firm said: “We deeply regret this matter. We want to sincerely apologise to all our consumers and business partners and thank the food safety authorities for their valuable guidance.”
