Southeast Asia’s Flagship Airways On Rough Path to Recovery

COVID-19 has hit the revenues of the three flagship airways in Southeast Asia because the number of passengers traveling has dropped.

In addition, maintenance costs have soared, making the situation even worse.

Internation Air Transport Association (IATA) estimates that commercial flights globally will resume to pre-covid levels in 2024.

Efforts like laying off the staff are underway to keep these three Airlines flying.

They also sold 42 aircraft and subsidiaries and increased cargo service routes to survive.

Although passenger services have suffered greatly, the demand for cargo services remains.

The demand for cargo flights rose by 22% compared to 2019 and is expected to grow in 2022.
