South African scientists have discovered a new 'variant of concern' last month.
The WHO (World Health Organization) named the new COVID-19 variant Omnicron.
There isn't so much information regarding this variant yet. But health officials across the world are currently studying it.
The new mutation spreads six times faster than the previous ones.
More than two dozen countries have reported Omnicron cases so far.
Cases in EU
In European Union, the Netherlands reported 14 Omnicron cases, followed by Portugal (13), Spain(1), Italy (4), Germany (4), Denmark (2) so far.
"I have little doubt that this is going to become the dominant variant shortly for much of the world," Michael Osterholm said.
