Saudi Arabia hosted a summit "The Future of Minerals Forum” around mid-January. Some 2,000 experts and decision-makers from 100 countries attended three-day summit.The forum was important as it was part of country's economic diversification programme and an initiative to start a new era.
Economist Dr. Ishak Elkherci said: “Saudi Arabia wants to develop its mineral sector and achieve the goals of Vision 2030."
"In fact, the Kingdom's mining sector has large reserves which are valued around $1.3 trillion,” he pointed out.

He said Saudi Arabia had over 2,000 mining projects spread over 70,000 sq km across the country. Among them are 18 projects having reserves of precious metals such as gold, silver, zinc and copper.
