Gucci to Accept Cryptocurrencies in Select US Stores

Gucci store in Rome, Italy.

Italian luxury brand, Gucci, will start accepting payments in the form of cryptocurrencies in few American stores. The customers will be able to pay in more than 10 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin. Moreover, it will accept Dogecoin, a 'meme' cryptocurrency initially created as a joke.

Later this month, the service will roll out in its flagship outlets. These outlets are Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles, New York's Wooster Street, Miami Design District, Phipps Plaza in Atlanta, and The Shops at Crystals in Las Vegas. Additionally, it plans to extend the move to all of its directly operated North America stores this summer. The decision is a major validation for virtual currencies from a leading luxury fashion-house.
