China achieved its best economic growth since 2011 and the economy expanded by 8.1% in 2021. This was above the growth rate of 2.3% for 2020 and a government target of at least 6% for 2021. In 2020, the economy experienced the lowest growth since 1976 at -1.6% but recovered faster than other major economies.
In Q4 of 2021, actual GDP growth rate was higher than expected and reached 4%, but was lowest since the mid-2020. Economy experienced the weakest growth rate of 4.9% in Q2 of 2020 and Q3 of 2021. Average growth for the last four quarters was 9.4%.
Economy rebounded strongly in early 2021 in China, but most economists expect progressive decline of economic growth in upcoming months.
